Step 1 · The Basics

Three words to know first.

No need to learn all the financial jargon to start. These concepts are enough to understand 90% of what you read on Investlytic. Each term links to its full definition in our financial glossary.

The share

Complete Definition →

The stock market index

The stock market

The stock market is simply the organized market where stocks are traded (Euronext Paris, Nasdaq, NYSE...). Prices fluctuate continuously according to supply and demand during trading hours.

Complete Definition →

The volatility

Step 2 · The Investlytic Method

5 criteria, the same for each share.

Rather than an opinion, Investlytic applies five objective and transparent criteria to each stock, based on real market data. Each criterion validated scores a point: the rating goes from 0 to 5 (also displayed as a score out of 100).

📈 Price Trend

Each criterion validated = 1 point. 4-5/5: solid fundamentals · 3/5: watchlist · 0-2/5: caution. The score out of 100 shown on the sheets is the same rating, multiplied by 20.

Step 3 · Read an equity profile

How to read an Investlytic share profile.

Each stock has a free public profile sheet. Here's, block by block, what you'll see there.

The price and its variation

At the top of the page: the last known price, its daily variation (▲ for increase, ▼ for decrease) and references such as the highest and lowest over 52 weeks, the market capitalization and the traded volume.

The score out of 100 and the stars

The model's verdict

CONSERVE (4-5 validated criteria), WATCH (3 criteria) or SELL (2 or less). It's the mechanical conclusion of the 5 criteria · not personalized advice.

Details of the 5 criteria

Each criterion is displayed with its actual result: ✓ passed, ✕ failed, with the exact number (e.g., "Debt/Equity 0.32 · limit 0.50"). You always see why the rating is what it is.

Blurred sections

Dividend and comparison

If the company pays a dividend, the profile shows its average yield and growth. A table also compares the stock to other stocks in the same market (P/E, debt, growth).

Must-read

Risks, no beating around the bush.

Investing in the stock market involves the risk of losing capital. The value of a share can drop permanently, and you may recover less than what you invested · sometimes much less. Past performance of a share, index, or method does not predict future performance.

Some common-sense principles widely accepted: only invest money you don't need in the short term, diversify your positions rather than putting everything on one stock, and beware of any promise of quick or guaranteed gains · in the stock market, such things do not exist. Our page Risk Information details these points.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your first questions.

What can I consult for free, without an account?
Public stock profiles (price, trend, dividend, market comparison), the interactive chart (3 free searches), the compound interest calculator, the financial glossary, and the blog. A free account unlocks the rating /100, the verdict, and the details of the 5 criteria.
Does the Investlytic score tell me what to buy?
No. The score compares companies on 5 objective criteria and shows you exactly why a rating is high or low. It's an analysis and educational tool · the decision to invest, the amount and timing remain entirely yours based on your situation.
Does it take a lot of money to be interested in the stock market?
To learn: no, everything found in this guide and public sheets is free. To invest in reality, you will go through a broker or a bank; the minimum amounts depend on them. The prudent rule remains the same regardless of the amount: only invest what you can afford to immobilize, even lose.
Where can I find the definition of a term I don't understand?
